I go back and forth with this - I do. I feel like life imprisonment is better for such reasons as the person has to live with the memory of the crime they committed which is a punishment - to some.

But in some cases - I guess people deserve to die - some things are just horrendous, heinous, unbelieveable crimes and perhaps eye for an eye in these matters is the only way.

It is hard to say - I tend to think we should have shooting galleries again - and torture deaths - make them suffer the way they made their victims suffer when applicable -but no.. no cruel and unusual punishment.. death is almost too easy - a way out of their sorry existences.. some of them want to die and just don't have the guts to pull it off.

I don't know why society has become so consumed with the rights of criminals - even terrorists and not the rights of the victims - it is sickening.

Life. However bad the crime the people woho commit them while deserving of no sympathy themselves often have family. THese are also punished by a death sentence. Also if what killers do is so wrong why do some people want to do it to them.

well, I noticed that the sentences they hand out are quite draconian regardless of the crime, and half the people in prison are guilty, which isn't such a bad average, 1 out of 2, so let's do the sensible thing, force them to convert ti hinduism, then give then 3 cosecutive life sentences and 2 death penalties, that way they have a hope of one day finishing the sentence and returning to life living a normal life again.

Well, states with the death penalty have higher murder rates, death penalty trials cost more than life imprisonment, and there are known cases of innocent people being executed. The only reason for the death penalty is for politicians to pretend to be "tough on crime"

Capital punishment for murderers, rapists, muggers, any kind of violent crime, really. Saves wasting public money keeping the scum alive.

Life imprisonment.
At least then when the legal system screws up, the innocent can be released for the rest of their lives. Once you kill them, it's all over...

I think capital punishment because if they do something that bad I don't want my tax dollars keeping them alive
