As you know there are two branches of the legislative branch, also know as Congress. The Senate controls the upper house. The Seenate Pro Temp Por is the chief presiding sentator. The House of Representatives controls the lower house. The Speaker of the House is the presiding officer for the House of Reps.
You may or may not know this but since the 1930, the Speaker of the House is the 3rd person in line-of-succession to be President of the U.S.(only after the Vice President and President); the Senate Pro Tem is the fourth person in line.
