A good high school swimmer, can swim 1/2 mile (880 yds) in around 9 minutes.
You can judge based on that.
If you aren't swimming the whole thing freestyle (crawl), then switching to crawl will improve your time. If you can't swim the whole thing freestyle, then swim a length or two and then switch to an easier stroke for a while and then do a couple more lengths of freesyle.
If you are already swimming freestyle, have someone look at your stroke and point out flaws.

If you are not a competitive swimmer then it is very good, however, if you are planning on competing with a time like that, it's not that great. I swim a mile in about 25 minutes...
Just don't worry about going fast, and just relax through it. After the first 200 I think it gets really easy and it feels like you could swim forever.

That's very good. I swam a mile one time in about 45 minutes and it was tiring for having learn swimming in 1 year. (that's about 77 laps in a 25 yard pool)

If you are a recreational swimmer that is great... but i must say for if you plan on competing... dont plan on taking first.
