Girls, if you don't have a penis, don't answer the question. Guys cannot pee with a full erection, it is physically impossible. We have to wait for it to subside so we can go pee.
Morning wood is a natural sign that the man is a man, first of all, and that his autonomic systems have been recharging his sex organs during the night. Guys get erections throughout the night, sorta like trial runs. Blood is flushed through the system and the tissues are reoxygenated and excess wastes from the cells are removed. Logical, in fact; periodic woody's aren't well accepted during the day, in most daily actvities and would tend to get in the way so the body compensates and makes essential repairs at night. Morning wood is normal for guys from puberty on into their 60's or more, depending on how physically fit they are and how strong their sex drive is. Of course in younger guys, it is more essential than breathing.

I don't think that is fair to assume that just because a person is female, they are unaware of male health issues. It may have escaped your notice, previous answerer, that many women live with men and have sex with men which requires a knowledge of the physical and emotional aspects of having a penis for a happy relationship to continue.

The morning erection is a good sign that a man is potent and healthy and has no physical problems with achieving an erection. It shows that he has a good level of testosterone (male hormone) in his blood stream. In the morning testosterone levels peak resulting in an erection upon waking.

Although the erection often subsides whilst the man urinates, this does not mean that the erection is linked to the need to urinate. Whether he needs to urinate or not a healthy man will still achieve erection upon waking.

Because when men dream, even if it's not about sex, they get a hard on.....and if they are dreaming just before they wake up, they wake up with a hard on!

Men tend to get erections when their bladders are full. After they pee, the "morning stiffness" usually goes away.

Of course it's a hell of a lot more fun to make it go away another way. And we DO need it *all the time.*
