I'm a big Halloween freak! My favorite holiday, so this is what I do: Go to a Party Warehouse and buy extra large bags of cobwebs, spiders, a couple of tapes with spooky songs from different scary movies and creepy sounds, buy a chunk of dry ice to throw into the punchbowl (it makes "fog" come out of the drink, just make sure no one touches the ice-put it on the bottom of a huge bowl, then a screen on top for protection, then the liquid-rent a fog machine(or buy 1 on EBay for cheap), have all the adults dress up and participate-1 person dressed like a ghoul sitting on a chair, slouched over, then spring up when the guests arrive, buy some inexpensive "kits" like werewolf with the fake hair/snout,etc, another for vampires, If you have a large enough room, move most of the furniture out and cover the walls in black fabric-add glow in the dark "thingys" and use a black light to enhance the effect, buy a bunch of "eyeballs"(the squishy kind), put them into a bowl with Gatorade and have people "bob" for them like apples, play pin the tail on the Werewolf (get a picture, get it blown up at Kinko's and spin the kids around-whoever pins it closest wins), grab a spooky story book and while reading, have a "character" from the book-a costumed friend- jump out at the end-check out www.foodnetwork for food ideas...just have fun and go wild....try to get the adult "volunteers" to stay in character! There's tons more....

Music- You can buy random "creepy" tracks from dollar stores. But also stuff that tends to be on the radio alot. (I'm thirteen. We really like to dance.)
Decoration- Lots of black, Lots of orange. Random things that move by themselves etc.
Activities- DDR, Spin-The-Bottle, Truth Or Dare, Scary Movies (and the one's actually titled Scary Movie) They're typical, but a ton of fun.
You can find food recipies at a grocery store. Just check above the register.

Maybe you could make your whole house into a haunted house, and some of your friends could join in the fun. You should get really creepy Halloween sounds, like wolves howling, ghosts moaning, stuff like that. Have fun!

The kids are going to nervous, even though they will act like they're not, so you need something to break the tension and get them all to forget all the social awkwardness of that age.
Try to come up with some cool games that are not "too young" for that age group.
