FALSE. They are normal people who are simply down on their luck. that doesn't mean that they are lazy... nor does it mean that they take advantage of other people. They are just down on their luck.

I would beg to differ with the majority here.

Yes they are homeless for many reasons, lost their job, made bad mistakes, etc. But why did thye lose their jobs? I do not agree all are lazy, some have mental defiecencies, others bad luck, some are on their way to a home and are working hard, but most do take advantage of other people, however, I admit that if I were intheri shoes I would also take advantage of all the resources I could.

Some homeless people are mentally or physically unable to sucessfully manage their lives enough to have a place to live.

I have a relative who lost her house because she chose to buy drugs instead. After living under a freeway bridge for several years she was ready to try a different lifestyle and some relatives took her in. After a year she held a job and got her own rental, but she always struggled with being responsible.

I think once they become homeless it is more sign they have run out of resources and credibility due to their own poor choices.

DO YOU KNOW THAT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVELY-HOODS, HOMES AND MONEY DUE TO THIS? OUR PRESIDENT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH HOMELESS IN THE US BECAUSE HE WOULD RATHER FIGHT A WAR IN A LAND THAT HAS BEEN FIGHTING FOR 4,000 YEARS AND THAN TAKE THE TAX PAYERS MONEY TO HELP THEM BUILD BACK UP. HOW CAN HE HELP ANOTHER COUNTY WITHOUT FIRST HELPING THE UNITED STATES/? SO THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE A HOMELESS PERSON DON'T JUDGE OR PUT THAT PERSON DOWN, BECAUSE YOU TOO COULD END UP THAT WAY. some may be. but that doesn't excuse not helping those that are not. imagine that 90% of homeless people are lazy and manipulating. that doesn't mean that one should never help a homeless person. i think that 90% is way too high, but the point is even if its not, it doesn't allow a person to categorize ALL homeless people as undeserving of help. it would only imply that you should exercise caution. you still have a basic responsibility to those that are a victim of circumstances.

This is NOT entirely true, some are homeless by no fault of their own,for example, those Hurricane Katrina refugees, who fled to other states and could find housing, or financial aid.
