she im me and i just said hi and i said i had to go. then i put on the contact thing and said i was offline to the contact. the she im me again saying that she knew i was online. and she got really mad at me. i didn't answer he im because i didn't want to prove that i was still online

Well, I personally figure that she just knew you didn't want to talk to her. The chances of you having to get offline just after she IM'd you are fairly slim.
I know sometimes when my friends don't wanna talk but I don't take it personally.
That's what I think it was. If you said to display yourself as offline to that user then you displayed as offline to her. She just knew that you were still online because she thought so.

A lot of Yahoo sites show if your buddies are online. Like games, etc. You have to go in when you play a game or are on another site and do "do not show that I am online to anyone." ...or something like that. It's usually in "tools" "preferences" "general."

I doubt she knew you were online, unless she was chatting with another friend that you were also talking with and they told her. She probably was just suspicious that you had gotten offline so quickly and figured you were blowing her off.

I was once given a programme called buddy spy
she could have had that!! It sees if someone is online but invisible...its a bit stalking so i got rid of it

when people get on and off line there is a little announcement in the lower right hand corner of your screen. because you didn't really get off line the announcement was never made and you just appeared as invisable, not off line.
