Every state has different rules for appearing on the ballot. Most involve collecting signatures from a certain % of the number of voters that voted in the last election for the same office. There are always 'third party' and independent candidates on the ballot. Did you know it is possible to be on the ballot in some states and not others?

No basically only a Democratic backed candidate or a Republican backed candidate could win.

no, you have to have alot of support to make it onto the ballot. Usually this translates to lots of signatures.

not really they would have to be able to fulfill the requirements of running for presidency like being a politician of some sort before running for president
