I don't really understand what the question is trying to ask so I can't offer an answer. Anyway, I'm not good at DIY jobs and have to rely on others to do them for me so I'm probably not the best person to answer such a question. I usually pay a friend who is good at these things to help me with jobs around the house and it has worked very well so far. I wish I were good at these jobs but I haven't got anyone to teach me nor the patience to learn the skills.

Not all men are true handymen. Some try and get in way over their head but at least they try. I myself have owned a home repair and maintenance business for over 30 years. I hold a Masters license in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry, Painting and other various construction areas. Most of my experience is in the service or finish area. I also have several college degrees including a Paralegal to do contract work or helping customers write business or complaint letters against other so called handymen. We are out here, you just have to really look. I am also married and highly sought after in several countries.

GOOD QUESTION
as a skilled profesional contractor and carpenter i ask myself this all the time along w/local code enforcers inspectors
i have seen more material wasted by horrible application good home imp.products that were better thrown away than used to ruin perfectly good homes , some things are better left to skilled craftsmen rather than the time wasted TRYING to learn and some ppl are just never going to gain the insite neccessary to do most remodel projects properly

don't let the stereotype of men being better handymen than women put you off..I have many years of construction experience and I know for a fact that most guys I know are absolutely useless around the house..and more and more women are becoming electricians, plumbers, painters etc. and I know plenty of women who are dynamite at hanging wallpaper or painting ...so don't worry...guys are not so handy as you think...a measuring tape hanging from a belt and an a.rse crack sticking out of a pair of jeans does not make a good handyman, hahahahah

We have to be - I ain't never seen a woman shifting tons of gravel, fitting junction boxes, or rendering a wall. Come to think of it, I never even saw a woman with a pair of rigger gloves on doing any kind of DIY - not even changing a bulb.......It's also in our genes. Why do women think they are better than men at everything they are not?

Flippin' 'ell, fer gawds sake check what you've typed before pressing the button!! :-)
I think you mean
"Why do men think they're so handy at DIY"
or perhaps
"Why do men think they're DIY craftsmen"
Anyway, we aren't all good at it.
I freely admit that I'm absolute rubbish at virtually all DIY.
I'm so good at it that my wife doesn't ask me to do any DIY any more.. :-)
Remember Jasper Carrot's Destroy It Yourself sketches?
Well I'm Wiggy's role model!

I'm guessing this question was written by a female, one who always knows best!
A bit of advice for you, try using the 'check spelling' button before submitting a question in the future and may be you should also check your grammar?
