Well.... you see, it shows how much a mother cares about her child. Probably a photographer thinks this image is worthy of our attention because mothers work so hard to raise their children, and some of them end up on the streets and stuff. They turn their backs on them, but what I think is that since a mother takes care of us when we were babies, then it is our responsibility to take care of her when she gets old.

Nostalgic, reminiscent of olden times when small children where bathed in this way either due to no plumbing or, for the ease of washing the baby rather than bending over the tub.
Still done today. I bathed both my children as infants in the bathroom sink.
Very picturesque! as far an emotional scene or memory for many older parents and even parents of today. Photos of this particular scene are done professional as well due to their old time natural feel and appeal to family members and especially Grandparents love this.

i advise that you look up 'semiotic analysis'. OR Just say: This picture envokes an array of emotive responses. On first glance you see the love the mother holds for her child. As you look deeper within the picture the you begin to question the circumstances surrounding it. Are the proper amenities not available, is it perhaps before the time proper pluming was introduced. Either way the mother is taking the extra time to care for her child so the overall emotional response the photographer is aiming for is that of love..........

Vulnerability of a child
Nurturing of touch of mother.
Kitchen, dinner..
The photographer is trying to capture the innocence of the moment, tap into the universal truth that each of us can relate to that image in an emotional way. Vulnerability and love.. hard not to be emotional at some level, conscious or not.

What comes to mind for me is a simpler time, the love of a mother caring for her child. It also reminds me of when I washed my daughter in the kitchen sink when she was a baby. I think this photograph is meant to appeal to mothers mostly. The thought of it makes me feel happy, and think ot how nice the simple things in life can be.

I think it is the tinyness of the baby that can fit his whole body in the kitchen sink. and i also think that the tenderness of the moment makes it worthy of attention. i mean the mother has the look of total love usually in her eyes and is usually caressing her child.

I don't know the Pix to which you are referring, but there is an innocence to it. I don't see a complication of perversity. There are images of our childhood that do not implicate sexual nature. There is nothing wrong with pix that depict our communal experience as children, and this one.

Irina,
It will mean different things to different people. To me it brings back memories of childhood. Thats how my brother and i were given baths as small kids. (We lived in a cold water flat).
To a pedophile...the picture might be sexually stimulating.
To a women who lost her child.....it might evoke tears.
To an old man it may remind him of happier times when his children were small.
It's all relative...........and I think the photographer knows it will mean something different to each of us.....and will make some of us recall memories......good and bad.
I hope this helps.
