Of all the classical movie monsters, I believe that werewolves are the scariest. They are so primal, brutal, and out of control. On the big screen, they are the most visually stunning and interesting creatures. In my opinion, werewolves also seem like if any of these monsters could actually exist, they would make the most sense. Shape-shifting takes place all the time in nature. Caterpillars turn into butterflies, et. al. Folklore from all around the world has myths of shape-shifters, from Eastern Europe to China to the Native Americans.

The scariest is the one you don't see. You can always come up with something much more frightening in your own head than anything they can put on screen. Some of the best movies use this to great effect.

I'm more afraid of supernatural type movies, but for some reason I have nightmares when watching zombie movies. I love them but can't watch them at night, so I'll go with zombies.
