I 12 years old and for homework we had to write your openion to an article in the news i got this on ccn.com tell me what you think about it
Middle school teacher who burned two American flags as part of a civics lesson won't be charged, but may still face discipline from the school board, officials said Wednesday.Dan Holden, who teaches seventh-grade social studies at Stuart Middle School, burned the flags last month during a lesson on freedom of speech. The students were asked to write an opinion paper about how they felt about it.Bill Patteson, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Attorney's Office, said the evidence doesn't warrant filing a charge of criminal wanton endangerment -- causing significant risk of serious injury or death.Holden was temporarily reassigned to a non-teaching role while the school district and police investigated the incident.Lauren Roberts, a spokeswoman for Jefferson County Public Schools, said the district is still reviewing whether Holden endangered students or acted inappropriately.Holden has repeatedly declined to comment.
I don’t blame the teacher for burning a flag and it shouldn’t be agaist the law to burn a flag .A flag isn’t a living organism and the government shouldn’t make such a big deal about it .I would burn the flag anyway for my own purposes but this lady was giving a lesson on freedom of speech . Their claiming that burning the flag was an hazard to the student if any student was burnt then by all means she deserves to be locked up. But she didn’t harm anyone and the true meaning why the went to look her up is because they give their life a flag .This pledge of allegiance was made in 1892 the time of slavery but its says “with Liberty and Justice for all” it also says we are one nation if we were really on nation each state wouldn’t have its on law but America would have its on law as a whole .I don’t care anything about patriotism or the burning of a flag in which shows no liberty at all. In fact if you ask me the flag is raciest the color white on the flag represent innocence and purity if you ask me the color white is anything but that . The color white is the exact opposite the color red represent the color in which the blood that was shed in the fight for freedom agaist Brittan how about the color red for the color of the people America took this land from. Blue stands for justice the country has given this whole flag a big ridiculous lie and you should have the right to burn it.

I think you've missed the point a little. You are not being asked for you opinion on the flag but the article. While it may be justified, there is no reason to state these things in the essay. I would talk more about how the teacher (are you sure it is not a man?) was probably using shock tactics to invoke a sense of patriotism. Use your spell checker and have somebody look at the grammar for you. It does not read very well.

Technically you do have the right to burn the American flag. The Supreme Court has ruled that the burning of the American flag is protected under the first amendment of the United States Constitution.

You spelled opinion wrong, kid. But other than that, I agree with you. Flag burning does not hurt our country, and that teacher gave an important lesson on the freedom of speech.

It is an interesting article, shows some independent thinking outside the "box" as it were. You did make you case in few words. Brevity is the soul of [inelegance] as the great bard (Shakespeare in Hamlet) penned. Keep thinking, keep questioning. Keep writing. You seem to have a knack for it.

I think the only lie here is that you are 12. You can spell ridiculous and innocence but not opinion. Get real. If you feel this way just have the guts to say it, why pretend to be a kid. You are a coward. But that's just my openion.

I think your "opinion" is misspelled.
As for the rest of it.....you are entitled to your opinion, as the flag you want to burn represents that very freedom.

I ain't American, but they will fail you for two reasons
a) you are not speaking grammatically correct all the time
b) Your teacher is probably patriotic, and will say your claims have no evidence (even you do provide evidence they will say it ain't good enough)
