i need help with a physics problem quick.?

person presses hands on front and back cover of a book, force is perpendicular to book and horizontal. book weighs 31 N. the coefficient of static friction is .40.to keep the book from falling, what magnitude of pressing force must be applied?

the answer to the question is 39 N, but i need to know how to get there?

31 / 0.4 = 77.5 Total 38.75N each hand
