Increase Mather was a Puritan minister who lived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the 1700's. He was one of a long line of ministers in the Mather family.

Puritan.

He was a famous Puritan minister in a family that produced three such ministers--Richard Mather, Richard's son Increase, and Increase's son Cotton Mather. This was in Massachusetts Bay Colony.
