Think long and hard about getting one..I have 2 and am pleased with both..I got my first one at 23 and i was married and my second just 2 yrs ago in memory of my first grandbaby whom passed away at 7 days old..I got both for very personnel reasons and yes am proud of both of them..so if you chose to get one ...have a deep reason for it...I am now 45 and happy I have them....and NO .I'M NOT A TRAMP...

Hey girl... mostly you have to think about this. I wanted to be a marine biologist for 3 yrs in highschool, and changed my mind when I was applying for colleges. I had always wanted a tattoo, but my mom made me wait till I was 18, and I'm so glad she did. I had originally wanted things like dolphins too... but as I got older I got wiser. I have 3 tattoos now... my first was when I was 18, then another at 19, then I added on to the first when I was 20. I have a ying yang with chinese characters bordered by chinese dragons, and a medieval dragon. I'm half chinese and dragons are very symbolic in my culture. Also, I ended up marrying a man who is a dragon in the chinese zodiac, so that worked out nicely.
I say wait a couple years... but when you do get one, make sure it's something that will be meaningful to you when you're 80. Make sure it's on a body area that will not look horrible after you have children and that is easily covered up in case you work in a professional environment someday.
I have one on the back of my neck, and the other 2 are on my lower back.
I'm 26 now and I still love all my tats. I've had a kid too, and they still look great. I had my lower back one redone just last year to keep it looking sharp and fresh. So do be aware that you will have to upkeep your tat to avoid fading.
hope this helped, and good luck!

GIRLFRIEND!!!
i was 17, (im 18 now) when i got my tattoo. and honestly, it was a big mistake. In December, ill have had it for 1 year, but i wish i would have waited. I have it on my hip and its very very cute, but people dont realize that tattoos are very high maintenance for the first 2 weeks or so. And think about the future too.....i a college cheerleader and i have to keep it covered with makeup 24-7 at practice and at games...........and think about when you have kids....it will strectch!! so just put some thoutgh into it!

I suggest that if you get a tatto, that you get it because it is something you really want and not because everybody is doing it. I am 57 and I have 3 tattoos. Have had them for a long time. I got them because it was something I wanted to do. I have them on my forearms. One says ,Too Seek, and the other says,Wisdom. Both are in japanese script. They are reminders for me to seek wisdom everyday. The other is a beautiful butterfly on my ankle. Just for the beauty. I think a dolphin sounds wonderful.

Where I am from they call them tramp stamps on women. Tattoos are fine, I know plenty of people (guys and girls) that have them, but I look at it this way...when you are 70 yrs old and your skin is sagging or not where is was when you first got the tattoo is it really going to look that great anymore??? Your skin starts to loose it's elasticity in your 30's-40's depending on your genetics. I do not have one, and I do not want one, nor do I want my boys to get one...but it will be their choice by the time they are 19 yrs old. They are just not for me, and even though I am skinny, I know over time my skin will sag and that cute above the bootie tattoo will be on the bootie in years to come...not too sexy sounding to me.

I would leave it a while till your a little older but a little dolphin is ok i think,
Makes me laugh when people say when your 60 or 70 it wont look cool then,!!!
How many 60-70 year olds parade round half naked worrying about body image, if it makes you look and feel good now whats the problem

No! Odds are you will not want to be a marine biologist in a year. Buy a dolphin charm necklace and respect your body.

REALLY hate to be a bore but wait until you're older. I got one when I was 20 and now I really regret it. What is meaningful to you now probably won't be ina few years and IT IS FOR LIFE!!! So I'd say wait, even if it's just a year or two so you're sure.

Don't get a tattoo... you'll probably regret it later. In fact, tattoo removal is a very fast growing industry right now.

I'd say don't get one. I've always considered tattoos on a girl to be a BIG turn off.
