Hi,I was married in July to a Military Man in July, I was just curious if anyone noticed a difference from dating,or being with a Civilian opposed to someone in the Military. I mean as far as controlling, abusive, being loyal. Do Military seem more so,and if you think so,why is that? Please respond if you have had the Exp....
And before you start in,I am not picking on Military.....Either Civilain or Military can be controlling and all the above.

Hi, army wife, former Marine wife --- My husband is loyal, and not at all abusive. On base, there are always arrests for domestic violence, just like in civilian life. There is a higher incidence of domestic violence in military families, but I don't know the statistic. People say it's a result of being barked at and ordered around all day, these guys come home and want control. There are lots of theories.
Loyalty seems to be worse for women than men in the military, IE, the wives cheat more than their husbands (in my experience.)
And there is a military section on here, I hope you placed your question there as well. Good luck!

I hope that you are in a different situation than my sister-in-law. Her husband has been in the Air force for over 10 years and they seemed to have a great life together. Except for the fact that he has constantly cheated on her- I mean constantly. Even when she was pregnant, even when she found all the info on the computer about the girl he was seeing when he was stationed in Korea, even when they lived in Germany. She wont leave him, I don't know why, but she thought that another baby would save their marriage. It is unfortunate that the lifestyle of a deployed soldier is not always conducive to monogamy.
Anyhow, he is disrespectful toward her, ignores her most of the time that everyone is around and has a crazy drinking problem. Overall, I'd say he isn't controlling, he doesn't seem to care. That is a widespread problem not just for military people, but for any one in a relationship that they are unhappy with.
Good luck to you, and if you had a solid relationship before you got married then things will probably be good for you.

I am ex-military! The hardest part about a man and his woman while he is in the military is being a team. You learn to be so independent in the military that when you are around your mate you seem to not pay much attention to the selfishness you display. Just communicate well. As for as dominance, if that has not been the mode so far, you should have nothing to worry about.

Boy oh boy! I could tell you some stories. One, I'm a female, prior military myself. Two, I am married to a military man (10+years). It's a hard life. Military individuals have a lot more temptations. The key is to build a strong marriage. Email me, if you have specific questions. Good luck.

Military wives usually get a mouth full and then go out and look for a hand full and then stay home and wait for the phone call to say, Come on down, your the next contestant on the marriage is dead"
