I think the Bible was written by a bunch of patriarchal misogynist men in order to keep women subservient.
There is a lot of talk among the new age communities about a return to feminine energy and a return to feminine leadership. It is believed that with women in charge we will somehow clean up all of the world’s problems and bring civilization back to a place of beauty and harmony living off the land in a peaceful nurturing way. I even read an article recently written by a new age man asking where we women were and when would we be coming back to fix the mess that he feels the men have made of our planet. Wow! What a big responsibility!

Well, it bothers me. I have wrestled with religion all of my life. I even felt called by Jesus but all the anti-female stuff, and the concept of having to sign up in a club to have my soul saved, really bothered me. In fact I couldn't reconcile it and had to turn in my membership card.
I just tried to focus on Mary, mother of God. She is a lovely concept. And there is a Black Virgin somewhere too, which is lovely - a statue of Mary which is totally black.
But basically Christianity and its offshoots are patriarchal and have been responsible for the deaths of thousands of women. Yes, that bothers me. What about you?

Who's brainwashing you?Talk about out of context,read about Deborah,Hannah,Ruth,Esther, Elisabeth,Sarah,Rachel,Mary,Lydia,Rahab,and Jael,and others
Most of those passages had to do with sanitation problems, not womens rights.A lack of water, soap, and anti-bacterials in those days made those things necessary.Otherwise the Jews would be as disease ridden as the other peoples of the land(and they were, too)

Some of that is actually OT law; Christians aren't bound by it except for the Ten Commandments.
