For warmth, don't be overly concerned with Brand. The type of jacket is more important. I find down to be the warmest insulator and my favorite companies for high quality down are The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, Arctyrx, Patagonia and Burton. I'd stay away from Columbia as their quality doesn't come anywhere near the brands I mentioned.

While you do want a warm jacket, you also want one that's versatile. If your ski jacket is really warm, but the weather turns mild, you become one sweaty skier! Most experts will agree that layers are your best bet! Good brands include Marmot, Helly Hansen, Jack Wolfskin, Columbia, and L.L. Bean.
