Japan is a good place for that. My nephew, with a B.A. in English has been there and is going back.

I did a year's placement through the British Council at two high schools in Austria. I chose Austria as I speak German and had already lived in Germany for a year and wanted to try somewhere different. It was a great experience, the kids were well behaved and actually wanted to learn (that was a shocker!) but it did teach me that I could never be a full time teacher, too much like hard work for a slacker like me!

you can surely do it, I have one friend abroad who is teaching english and has his masters in it....and another friend who is currently earning a cert from TESL to learn to teach and they then find you a job. Search for TESL or TEFL programs that teach you how to teach english, you can learn closest to you or even go abroad to learn it. My advice would be start contacting english schools that would hire you without a cert, it's most likely going to be under the table depending on the country and the work visa qualifications, etc and teaching english doesnt pay that well unless your in the middle east

I understand from friends that the money in Japan and Korea is very good.
One friend tells me that, in Korea, she was stiffed on her promised completion bonus 2 different times.
I also hear that Japan and Korea are quite strict about credentials.
I taught English in Mexico for several years and no one ever asked to see my degree or my working papers.

The pay is good in South Korea, and as long as you like Korean food, it's a great, safe country for Americans to work in. Stick to Seoul.

Japan would be very rewarding, the students are mostly keen and hardworking and it would be a great chance to absorb the culture of that wonderful country.
