I take it to mean whoever created the image thinks we all are too into technology and find the external enjoyable rather than the internal. We don't all sit in a parlor and play piano and discuss politics anymore; some kids are given cell phones and televisions with dvd players before the age of six.... We don't take the time to appreciate what is already inside us. We don't spend time with family and just use our brains and emotions to provide a good time.

Your question prompts recognition of how effective advertising can be to sell a product. Television sells itself as a result of its phenomenal success in dominating everyone's attention. The fact that the joy personifies instant gratification is obvious. The newest technologies are paralleled with the newest member of the family. I'd not restrict the audience merely to 'American' families but rather the universal appeal of any family in this generation of modern times. I would speculate that 80% of the developed world enjoy the medium of television & now, with the new invention of High Definition, we have a new baby in need of our close personal attention.

Where is the image? Maybe it means bringing home their tv is like bringing home a new bundle of joy...

You cant ask people to explain an image then not show it goofball... and be more specific is it an ad for hdtv or a political thing?

Exactly what the other said. That we consider what is on that tv more important than what's in front of us. Like people sitting their toddler down in front of the tv to learn to speak, my someone constantly checking their cell phone for news and sports scores. Are you not capable of slowing down to teach your own child to speak? Are those scores more important than the family members you see maybe once a month? That's what this personifies to me. We are too busy, too self-important, to take note of anyone, or anything, else.

I see this as meaning the T.V. and, in a larger sense all of the tech toys, are the babies of today. People will tell you they "love" their computer, cell phome, HDTV, or what have you. In an even larger view, this shows our love of not only tech, but als materialism.

HDTV costs as much as a birth. We often devote an entire room in the house to it. We sometimes run our lives around it. And men brag to their friends about it.
