Umm.. not entirely sure for this question. I do know that South Carolina was settled mostly by those from the island of Barbados, who eventually got a charter for Charles Town and brought most of their slaves with them to work the fertile soil. Wait, so yes, the answer should be C> British settlements in Barbados. Quick fact, South Carolina had the biggest slave population in America.

C is not true about the British colonies since the colonies started as joint-stock/business colonies and British claimed jurisdiction over mainland America.

I think this is false. Ithink they stopped fighting because Lord North's cabinet and ministry began to collapse and the British already had probs with Spanish and French.

Don't think so b/c Washington was commander of the army in the Boston fight in March, 1776, while the declarations of Ind. were not formed until June by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia. Also, remember that the second continental congress met in May 1776, where they were still asking for King George III to intercede with Parlaiment via the Olive Branch Petition. In this second meeting, they still had not yet decided to claim independence. Washington had already been commander of the continental army since March.

After evacuating Boston, British successfully attacked New York. Washington had to escape to New Jersey.

New York and New Jersey were originally Dutch. New Jersey was actually part of New York, but Gov. James split it into 2. So, yes ur right.
