5x-3y=13
5x=13+3y
x=13/5+3/5y

4x-3y=11
4(13/5+3/5y)=11+3y
52/5+12/5y=11+3y
12/5y=3/5+3y
-3/5y=3/5
y= -1

4x-3y=11
4x-3(-1)=11
4x+3=11
4x=8
x=2

Remember, you never really subtract anything. You're simply adding a negative number to a positive number.

Then, check your answers.

y= -1 x=2

5(2)-3(-1)=13
10+3=13

4(2)-3(-1)=11
8+3=11
