According to this's country's original "slave days' belief, if you are even considered 1/16th of black, or damn sure not white!!!!
Still to this day, many europen whites "German, Austrialian, Russian, Irish, etc. and even some White americans will tell you out right, anything mixed with white is no longer pure white.
Hence the reason for Hitlers, inability to create a pure white race. Someone mixed the cream and cinnamon way to many times.
I belief Halle Berry title given by the Accadmy awards is well deserved. Remember she was born here!!!!! Therefore she really is African-American!!!! This is not because who her mother is but, because of who her father is and where she was born!!!!!!

I can never understand you Americans. If someone is born in the USA, their parents were, and their parents, and their parents, and their parents, then even if they're black surely they are 'Americans' not 'African Americans'. Their ancestors may not even have come from Africa. Do you also have 'English Americans', 'Irish Americans', 'German Americans', 'Chinese Americans' and so on? If Halle is of what you used to call 'half breed' or 'mixed race' then shouldn't she be 'English-African American' or 'African-English American' or whatever combination you can think of. If an American goes to Africa and lives there is he American African if white or African American African if black?
Crazy or what?

It is common for society to label a mixed-race person as the race that is not white. So yes she is the first black woman to win an Oscar in that category.

I see where your coming from, but you have to remember that the African American side of her is apparently the most dominate side of her.

Yes, and i guess she classifies herself as Black woman not White and i am sure growing up with any color in her skin. People were very quick to remind her that she was not White. That is how the world is unfortunately.

To my knowledge, she has always represented herself as a Black actress, so she should be credited as one.
