The objective of foundation is to blend skin tone and colour differences to a natural look of healthy skin. If it looks like a mask, than too much has been applied. If you see no difference, you have applied too little.

Application

after cleansing your face apply a moisturizer with spf 15 or higher...oil of olay makes a great moisturizer. use a foundation makeup brush (avon has a great foundation brush at a fraction of the cost and is comparable to sephora makeup brush) to blend in your foundation to give you a nice airbrushed look. Using a brush instead of a sponge will help reduce product waste and give you better coverage. Just make sure you blend in circular motions starting from one side of your inner face and blending out. then do the same for the other half of your face.
