Foundation

The objective of foundation is to blend skin tone and colour differences to a natural look of healthy skin. If it looks like a mask, than too much has been applied. If you see no difference, you have applied too little.

Application

Use a sponge for applying foundation, for sheer coverage. Set the foundation with loose powder for a finished, polished look.

When applying foundation with your hand, mix it with some moisturizer in your hand and smear it on the face. Let it set for a moment. Then take a dry sponge and buff off any excess, and blend any areas that need it

Tips & Tricks

Set the foundation with light dusting of loose powder, on forehead, chin, nose and under eyes.Be careful to press the powder onto the foundation and not to rub it so you do not wipe off the foundation.

Choose the foundation shade that exactly matches your skin tone, or at the most try a foundation that's one shade lighter.

If your foundation looks cakey or your skin feels dry, gently dampen your fingers with hand lotion or moisturizer and very lightly pat and tap them over those areas.

after cleansing your face apply a moisturizer with spf 15 or higher...oil of olay makes a great moisturizer. use a foundation makeup brush (avon has a great foundation brush at a fraction of the cost and is comparable to sephora makeup brush) to blend in your foundation to give you a nice airbrushed look. Using a brush instead of a sponge will help reduce product waste and give you better coverage. Just make sure you blend in circular motions starting from one side of your inner face and blending out. then do the same for the other half of your face. Set the foundation by dusting loose powder on your face with a large powder brush.

Once you have washed your face, be sure to apply a daily moisturizer, then a face/foundation primer. The primer will help keep the make up smooth and helps it to stay on longer. I have always applied my foundation with clean fingers. Sponges can absorb too much foundation, and brushes can leave brush mark lines. After applying my foundation, I apply the rest of my make up, except my mascara or lip stick, I set everything with Cornsilk Translucent No-color powder(pressed powders can turn colors or make you look too made up), and then I spay my face twice with Clinique Moisture Surge. It's a gentle spray mist of moisture, but I have noticed it keeps the make up set even better than before. Then put on your mascara and lipstick/gloss.

I find that starting with a good moisturizer is a must, then dampen a makeup sponge with warm water, it glides easier, apply and then loosely brush powder over your face
