Most of the time I'm happy and enjoy life. But, every now and then, for no reason I can figure out, I just get so low and sad. I'm sixteen years old, if that matters.

Oh honey, you are just going through the typical teenage mental and physical changes that a girl goes through at that age. Some girls experiences are worse than other girls. It all has to do with your menstrual cycle and hormones and life at that age. Health food stores have natural herbal remedies that may truly help you but if these mood swings become too severe then you need to talk to your gynecologist who may put you on something or refer you to a psychologist. Seeking professional advice is nothing to be ashamed of. Good Luck

It's pretty normal at sixteen. Hormones changes going on plus complex world, so many decisions to make and all. If it persists or gets worse try to see a professional therapist or psychiatrist for a mental health check We all need one of those once in a while--similar to getting a dental check-up only more important.
Temporary fix for the low& sad times-go for a swim, a good long walk or toss baskets for a hour---exercise will make you happier.!!

It is normal to have mood swings. I have two daughters and being a woman myself I can relate, Its generally a hormonal thing. It's normal for teenagers to separate themselves from their family. I encourage my daughters to come out and talk. Sometimes, it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's good to have an open relationship with your parents. Another thing you can do if your spiritual is to pray, then open up your Bible and usually the answer will appear. As for the sadness I would say you need to jump in the shower freshen up and make yourself feel beautiful. This tends to help when my older daughter is feeling down. Then she puts on some fun music and pulls out the family pictures to remember the silly times. After that my daughter/s usually tell me whats going on. And many times it really seems like nothing ie: they feel ugly or insecure. (my daughters are beautiful). I pep them up. SHEER UP!!. If none of these suggestions help maybe look into counseling. I wish you well.

Most females have mood swings just before and throughout their monthly period. My sister used to act like "Megan", from the original "Exorcist" movie, during her time. She had very extreme mood swings, presumably due to hormone fluctuation, and definitely from cramping. Some females I know, friends and family, usually don't want to be bothered with others, or want to sleep all of the time. Other things going on in your life may only heighten your anxiety during that time. If it is not "period" related, it can be due to school and its' pressures such as tests, female friends, boy friends, parents, brothers and sisters, you name it. When I was a teenager, the only answer I used to get was that it was "growing pains", a typical answer from parents which means that they really don't know! Guys go through mood swings too, but it is usually not as obvious as females. Hang in there, this too shall pass!!

Hormonal fluxuations cause mood swings. It's normal, especially for your age, and those going through menopause or losing weight at a rapid rate. Drink water, get enough protein, and exercise. This will help to regulate both your mood and your energy and hormone levels.

I had a form of issues as quickly as...it became into continuously blue! people prevented me like the plaque...I had no thought why, until i found out that people who positioned on a temper ring and it turns blue are possessed by utilising the devil.....hmmmmm, fancy that! on the different hand, on a similar time as I wore the hoop, bums asked me for not something! So in line with probability it wasn't so undesirable afterall. :-)
