If you are speaking of a very young child, then they are not "thinking' as yet, generally.... well, hopefully.

Some traumatic event will drive the Attn Aspect of the child's Apapsyche into its Left-hemisphere for quite some time, and this will be the beginning of the child's "thinking" processes.

At the moment the child is responding to images that are not particularly distinct, and to sounds, and to mostly the attitude of people. That is, the child is responding to the emotional states of those in his/her surroundings. The very young child is still traveling between his/her physical sight and his/her Astral sight, which means the child is seeing auras, or the subtle light vibrations people are putting out.

Peace

it depends on their age. Generally, for children younger than 2 years old, out of sight is out of mind. They haven't understood the principle of object permanence yet. Simply put, they're just amazed how the funny faces suddenly appear and disappear.

They know that mommy is playing because of the use of voice and mannerisms. Since most babies are very eye conscious, they perceive when your eyes AREN'T there, and are happy when they reappear. My youngest daughter had the devil's own time getting her youngest son accustomed to seeing her with glasses (when he was used to viewing her in her contacts, with her face "naked").

A very young child will think you disappeared and that's why they are so delighted to see your face. They think Mom is quite magical.
