Do people not realize that the Bible was written by ancient Arabic men who riddled the Bible with cultura; beliefs that belittles women and makes no sense?

If God doesn't come down from the heaven and talk to me, one on one, I figure he is too busy with other worldly things.

He/She doesn't care if I go to church or not. If he/she did, he/she would be here asking me to go to church and tell me what I should believe in.

So long as I treat others as I would want to be treated. Good morals and respect for the earth is all that is needed

saulg21: We all know that all animals have offspring. You can not compare that idea that baby animals exist with the existence of god. Try again.

Your last two sentences are a great foundation for living. Both are widely taught and practiced by Buddhists, including American and other Western Buddhists, some of them even more eagerly than by people with God-centred faiths.

As for God, God invites you and all of us to tune in to God, but God never, ever uses force or any form of coercion, only love.

Well, I certainly don't believe in everything in the Bible. And some of it was written in the early days of Christianity (about 3-400 AD, or CE, if you prefer), just to put women down and make them less powerful in the early Christian church.

But don't dismiss the whole Bible just because parts of it are stupid and prejudiced. There are some great lessons to be learned there. I mean, it's not the only source of spiritual inspiration, but it's certainly worth a read just so that you know exactly what it says. If you look at the *metaphors* in the Bible (and there are a bunch) as metaphors, it's a good read and often super-interesting and insightful. But if you're OK without it, then more power to you. I wouldn't say that the Bible is the ultimate source of knowledge or that you have to do what it (or a church, or a school, or society) says. Read the Bible or texts from other religions to connect you to all the other people who have read those books for generations and who still read them. Not because you have to or because somebody forces you to. History is cool, and it's nice to feel like you're a part of it.

That's what I do with the Bible, anyway. Just have fun with it and don't take it too seriously.

Okay we won't take a mere mortals explanation. Who would you prefer, since there are no viable alternatives.

Of course someone as definite as you could stand in for us mere mortals.

Belittles women, what a crock. Who did you hear that one from Polly Parrot? Read the whole book, not just parts that you can use to throw back in real people's faces.

Perhaps God IS trying to talk to you. Are you listening? Or are you just too busy with your day to day life? Think of it this way; If I told you that baby pigeons exist, and I know you've never seen one. Would you beleive me?
