Can I write 'political scientist' on my resume w/ only a BA in political science?

I'm applying for internships, and am wondering if it is incorrect for me to write 'political scientist' under my profile, since I only have a BA. If it is incorrect, what are some other recommendations?

Unless you've actually worked in the academic world as a Political scientist, I wouldn't include the term on your resume. Not only would it be dishonest, but it's also not really how a resume is supposed to be done. Having an education in a field is not the same as having experience in it.

If you have published material in poli sci journals, worked under a political science professor, or did some kind of research beyond what was required for you degree, then I think you could include "political scientist" on your resume.

I don't think we BAers have that right, or that it is appropriate for us to claim being a political scientist, but what is true about a BA is that it proves in the mind of a would be employer that you can read and write and follow directions, and as a bonus if you work for a non-profit it means you can actually make decisions on your own.

Tailor the resume to fit the job....employers want to see skills that they need/could use.

Note: B.S. will catch up with you. So make sure you put items or info that you can back up.

I had a minor in accounting, and used that as my main focus for my first job (job market was soft when I graduated from college).

i have a BA w/ majors in poli-sci and psych. i refer to myself as a Bovine Scatologist. that is what my business cards say.
