Up until a certain age we can do these things but after the early twenties I think its a NO NO !!!!
I'm always up for a laugh but when you're a grown up you must really act like one and for me dressing up is totally out of the question!!!
Sorry for those you who enjoy it-Have a good halloween but the only person dressing up in my house will be my son who is 5 !!!

Why do people keep talking about having fun or being children again???
You aren't children - you're adults but if you really want to dress up or if you are really as much fun as you make out why do you wait for a day like Halloween instead of doing it when you want to???
Oh yes I forgot you want ot be kids and they need permission before doing things like this!!!

I love Halloween. I'm 37!! But I just love it. I get tons of candy and really enjoy handing it out. I usually let the little ones just plunge in their hands and take what they want. It's so cute! I love seeing the kids dressed up. I sometimes dress up myself, and sometimes I don't. If I do, I'm usually a mouse or a princess.

I do it because it's FUN!!!

And as for growing up and stop acting like kids, screw that. You're only as old as you feel. I'm still going to be young and lively when I hit 40, but you, my friend, are going to be sad and joyless if you keep on thinking this way. Being childlike doesn't mean shirking responsibility (or being like Michael Jackson). Adults can have fun and still be responsible.

Halloween is not meant for children that is just commercialism. It is a pagan tradition namely All Hallows Even, celebrating the fact that the lines between this reality and the next are at their thinnest point and therefore the spirits of the dead can walk amongst us. The idea of costume was due to the fact that the Pagans wore masks to scare away evil spirits. It is an ancient tradition marred by the stupid materialistic people of the world. I celebrate it for what it is and dressing up is part of that.

Like Mardi Gras, Halloweeen is a time for dressing up and escaping everyday life for a few hours. It's a time to be free of who you are and indulge yourself in being something or someone else. Children do it for the candy, adults do it for a chance get away from the stress of everyday life and have a few hours stress-free.

Because we have one life to live and shouldnt be worried by people like you who think its "childish". If they are having harmless fun I dont see the problem. Im 18 and I still dress up, now I know you probably were talking more about the older people but honestly, I hope I dont turn into you when Im old.

In Mexico, their Dia del Muerte holiday is for everyone. Why shouldn't everyone take part?
Most people do not have access to lots of costume parties or other activities to try being other than they are in regular day to day life.

Halloween is fun. Why do you feel it should be age specific?

Just because you grow older does not mean you exclude things that are entertaining or fun. I enjoy dressing up.

I suppose people in movies, operas and on any stage shouldn't dress up anymore because it is childish. I thought it was fun and creative.

Because some of us have kids and as parents we care about them and want to make sure that they have fun, so that is why most of us dress up. It sounds like to me that you really don't care about your child having fun, since you are griping about adults dressing up and having fun.

It might be a bit of a relief to relax for a day & pretend you're somebody else. Catharsis I think, pretending to be someone else to vent the most hidden motives & urges. i believe that's the origin of dressing up ;)
