Two things to keep in mind before you introduce your new guinea pig to your existing guinea pigs.

• Keep your new guinea pig quarantined from your guinea pigs for at least a couple of weeks to prevent they are not carrying mites or any other health problems
• Guinea pig herds have a heirarchy of control so a sudden introduction of a new guinea pig may cause problems.

Introducing a sow

• Place new guinea pig in a seperate quarantined enclosure for a couple of weeks
• During quarantine period ensure that there is no cross-contamination between the guinea pigs.
• Always wash your hands between picking up the new guinea pig and your existing herd.
• Always have seperate playtime and handling between the new guinea pig and your existing herd
• After the quarantine period, move the new guinea pig's housing next to the main herd's housing so they begin to sniff and hear each other.
• Pat the guinea pigs alternately so they smell each other on your hands and cuddle them alternatively so they smell each other on you.
• Introde your new guinea pig to each individual guinea pig in your herd, so they get to know each other - pat them and feed them - it's best to do this in aneutral area.
• During this stage, the guinea pigs may get a little aggressive towards each other - don't rush or force it - take your time.
• Let your guinea pigs share playitme - make sure there is a lot of food about to keep them occupied.
• Do not interupt them unless there is signs of major aggresion - let them establish their pecking order.
• Before introducing the new guinea pig into the shared housing it is ideal to clean and "sanitise" the main housing area and the guinea pigs.
• You can now try a "supervised" introduction of the new guinea pig into the main housing.

Introducing two boars

• This is a little more difficult than with sows but follow the same procedure. You may have to be more patient as it can take longer as two boars are often agressive towards each other.

As long as the cage you already have is big enough for 2 I wouldnt worry theres some good advice on care of guinea pigs on the SPCA web site. Good luck and enjoy them.
