filling the hole inside is all that matters. we have a body, and then our presence of mind and emotion, and then something else that we usually only feel around dead people or in very strange situations. that "something else" is quieted when we are talking to other people, because it transforms from a deep longing or knowing to the tone and propensity of the communications that we put forth. When we interact with others, we are affecting them with that communication and thereby feeling as though we have exercised that "something else", whereas when we are alone or in silence we feel as though we are missing something. many people fill that space with TV or computers or music or drugs, but it all boils down to avoiding that knowing that we are missing something and need to drown that voice. This is what is known as our conscience, a fundamental organ of our spirit. What we are missing is another fundamental organ of our spirit, our "umbilical cord" to God. unlike our physical bodies, our spirits were not made to be without Him. wtihout Him, we are deprived of a fundamental need of ours which is Love, in it's purest form. God fixed this by manifesting His love towards us physically in the form of Jesus Christ, as we (through Adam, whom we are all descendants of) had chosen to live physically instead of spiritually. Since then, He has waited patiently for two thousand years for people to meet this Person by stretching out with what we call our heart, that bloodied stump left of our umbilical cord, to Him so that Jesus can fill the gap. Our being accepted by other people is therefore only an echo of wanting to be accepted by Him, as others are made in His image and can be called an "echo" of Him.

Though I think it is nice to be accepted by others, I don't expect everyone to like me. My life goes on just the same. Besides, they don't know what they are missing in life by not accepting, liking, or caring about others either. It is not my primary goal in life. If I wanted to be a part of a popularity contest, I would look for a t.v. show/contest to enter. However, don't confuse criticisms with acceptance. Healthy criticism can be a good thing.
