Well, since many of these protestors were activley supporting the Red Armies of Indochina, and attacking those who were against communism, the protestors of today may face the same fate if they do the same thing.
Just remember that the Ohio National Guard came to Kent State because the protestors blew up the ROTC office.

Good question. The problem is, the young people are too busy with their ipods, mp3's and cell phones to care about a war in a country they can't find on a map. But to answer your question, the police can use tasers and rubber bullets now, not to mention high pressure water hoses and tear gas. It scares me how quiet the people in this country are about their family members and friends dying for the president in his personal Iraq war. The parents of the young people are too busy working to care, what with soccer/basketball/karate practice and having to make so many stops at McDonalds.
