What do they do during a pap test? How old do you have to be when you should get one? Do you HAVE to have one every time you have sex? Do they give you one before you've ever had sex? What are they for? Do they hurt? Why do I need one? Why do all women need one? I'm 16 and I've never had sex... do i need one now? If so, than Why?

During a PAP test...the doctor inserts a vaginal spreader to open ur vagina so that they can scrap some cells off your vaginal wall to check for cervical cancer , STD's, and etc. Then the doctor will insert 2 lubed fingers inside of you and press down on your stomach so they can check your ovaries and tubes to make sure everything is okay, like you don't have ovarian cysts. You should have one by the age or 18 or if you have been having sexual relations with someone. You have a pap test ONCE a year ! If your not sexually experienced it may be alittle painful and uncomfortable. If you want to be put on birth control pills, they will give you one. If your having problems....like bleeding more than once a month and they can't figure out why...they may do it.

During a Pap test the doctor takes a long thing and takes cells from your cervix. They say that a woman should start going to the gynocologist at 18 or when they first start having sex. Women should go to the gyno every year or at least every 2 years. They don't hurt although some women feel a little pressure.

most textbooks recommend you get one soon after you start your period b/c of the increase risk of cervical cancer, they are uncomfortable but if you find a physician you feel comfortable with they are somewhat better, sex has nothing to do with when you should get one or how often you should get one, your gyno will recommend how often, but most of the time it is just one a year
