Nothing like the smell of something new especially a new car. I think it gives you the sense of being clean.

The reason would be no oil residues or other household smells have had time to set. As for a new book, it would be the fresh ink and pages that have yet to absorb oils from human hands. This is why money is the dirtiest thing you touch. Imagine how many hands, pockets and other places money has been.
But, in answer to your question. No human skin oils and/or pet oils have had a chance to be absorbed into the threads of the carpet. Not to mention whatever it is you may walk through on a daily basis (if you do not remove your shoes). And new books have untouched pages. Basically, they have not absorbed human oils from hands or heavy exposure from open areas where dirt and dust accumulate, and/or sunlight.

New carpet fumes are actually toxix so I would avoid breathing them to much. And you obviously just have a preference for these smells that is why you enjoy them so much.
