Patriotism is the feeling of pride in your country. The people of the United States are very lucky. We have more freedoms than virtually any other country. No considering certain public laws, we can do, say, eat, watch, visit anyone and anywhere.
We should all feel proud. We also, unlike many countries, have the luxury of not liking something. We can oppose legislation or vote for what we feel is right. We can, as a group or as an individual change things.
Defining the characteristic is a little more difficult. Perhaps I can explain when I feel in a "patriotic spirit". If you were standing at a parade, or at the opening of a baseball game........and the American Flag passes by or raises............do you feel a swell in your chest? Sometimes I feel that emotional want to cry feeling. Maybe it's extreme, but there it is. Perhaps my experience as a member of the U.S. Army get the credit of my patriotism, but I think that is something we learn from our family.

How patriotic someone is equals how much they try to make their country better. This is different from nationalism in that nationalism implies an agreement with the way your country is being run or the course it is taking. A truly patriotic person wants to make their country better, not be obnoxius toward other nations.

1. What has been 1 of the important things that been happening around here in C&A??? >>i wouldn't know...>.> 2. Tell me what it takes to be a C&A Reg....(I wish I was but I not really popular I guess around here.....<.>.......) >>all you really have to do is answer a bunch of questions and be active on C&A. then people start to notice you on C&A a lot. 3. Name most C&A Regs you know around here. (P.S. Do I Include????) >>there are a lot of regs and i don't feel like listing them all for fear i'll forget some people...and yes you are included. i notice you on C&A a lot actually. ^_^ Bonus!: Tell me do you think that trolling here increased since whenever because my "Fai VS Lelouch" Has been deleted along with my "Who Am I #2".................(Do People Hate Me????) >>no one hates you, but trolls will be trolls. and yes i agree that trolls keep on deleting people's surveys. O_o Anime Questions: 1. What is the "BEST ANIME" in the world that means to you the most??? >>Code Geass is the best in my opinion. I don't think I have ever been so engrossed in watching an anime before. Everything about it is top-notch. It is my absolute favorite. >>and I have to add Wolf's Rain as well because it is purely a masterpiece. Wolf's Rain can't be compared to any other anime in my opinion because it is at an entirely different level. It will always have a special place in my heart. 2. What was the "BEST MANGA" in the world that means to you the most??? >>I watch more anime than I read manga, but my favorite manga of all time is Death Note. I prefer it over the anime. It's a brilliant piece of work.

the reason why the UN is limited in peace efforts is because the representatives patriotically follow their own nations' interests, and not look beyond that.
if patriotism is used like "selfishness for me" on a national level, others still suffer
If used to help your community to think on a bigger level, to help the country, it's gr8 !

It has many meanings to me:
first: a person is fighting and defending his nation, his patriot.
Second: Aperson who is fighting against tyrany.
Third: A person who is defending rights of poors or weaks.
So it has many meanings to me, that are all good meanings.

It means to be blindly fanatical to your nations cause, without questioning your leaders' actions or motives. In this way, the US and many Mid East nations are very patriotic

Defending those that no one else will defend.
