It's not too late. Make sure you get another female. Sisters usually get along really well. If you have a female guinea pig for a while and then want another one, it is usually a good idea to get a baby female. That way the older female will take the younger female under her wing and it will be obvious who is dominant. Because the only trouble usually with having more than one is the issue of dominance.

Nope. Go tomorrow and get another one. Just make sure that they are the same sex. A lot of pet shops will tell you that you have two girls, but infact they know that you have a boy and a girl. They do this as boys are harder to sell, so they fool you by telling you otherwise. It's easier for them to sell them.

They should get along fine. Guinea-pigs are very sociavble creatures and get very depressed on their own. Just make sure the new guinea-pig is the same sex, age and roughly the same size too.

Hmm; dont wait too long & maybe when you go back you can purchase a guinea pig that was already a cage mate. I think that would be the best thing to do - supervise them at first though to make sure that get along well. Also - make sure that you have a big enough cage & maybe provide her with some toys or some interesting things for her cage.

I've had piggies my whole life.

It's a varying decision. I would go and get another asap.
Because most guinea pigs are territorial, If it's a male, there's a higher chance of terriotorial issues.

I would socialize them OUTSIDE of the cage.
Make sure you're there to make sure they don't fight.

And guinea pigs are NOT nocturnal. They're just average little animals. They love attention.

I've always had piggies. They get along very well together as long as the cage is a good size. They might take a couple of days to warm up to each other but they'll be ok. Just make sure you buy the same sex as you already have, or you'll wake up one morning to a fuzzy surprise.

We have had our piggy for a year now and he has been perfectly happy by himself. We take him out when the kids get home from school and he just squeals with joy. He loves to run round the living room and visit everyone. Just give him red cabbage and lettuce and he will be very content.

It is not too late to get a companion for her. Guinea pigs are very sociable and at the end of the day they'll greet you with whistles and squeals of welcome.
