An introvert can be a leader of people and be very effective. However, this is not a natural attribute of an introvert. Leadership for an introvert is a learning process. The learning requires years of experience dealing with people and situations. It requires a person to appreciate himself or herself as well as the ability of others. The learning process requires an introvert to be very good, not necessarily an expert, in a profession, a field or line of work. An introvert that is a successful leader finds his/her role to be highly rewarding because of everything overcome to do well. In summary, an introvert can be a leader of people, whether the followers be introverted or extroverted. This person can be an excellent because it takes so much hard work, persistence and a kind nature.

I definitely think so. Both personality types have advantages and disadvantages in terms of leadership. Introverts may have to be more careful to make sure they relate to people and listen to others' ideas, while extroverts could have more trouble going against what other people think to do what they know is right.
Both types of people can definitely be leaders, but there are certain things to consider in each situation.

I would have to say that it is possible, but unlikely. For an introvert to become a good leader, they would first have to realize they were an introvert, then they would have to strive to behave like an extrovert when it was required.
For example, a good leader would need to be able to speak in front of the group, as well as delegate responsibilities and resolve interpersonal difficulties between the team members. All of these will be difficult for an introvert, but if motivated enough, it IS possible that they could overcome their own tendancies.
Still, it would be difficult.

As an introverted person who manages 25 employees in her job, I will say it is possible but difficult. Every leader has certain weaknesses. I have the adventage of being a good listener and understanding what it important to people, but when I want to bring people around to my way of thinking, or reprimand someone, sometimes I have to just swallow hard and make myself do it, when it's not really something I am naturally good at.

Introverted people are often the leaders. They have the "thinking" advantage over the "extroverts."
The question is more pop-psy than sociology though....

My answer is fully unqualified but it revolves around the 'natural' logical order of things which tend to reveal that an extrovert will lead an introvert, merely by nature of the definition of terms. I'd suspect introverts have no ability or motive to lead.

The introverted, keeping within him/herself, would not likely be much of a leader. However, as a civilian in government, with a high enough position, he/she might be placed in a position of leadership over decisions that could impact the military. This has happened in the not too distant past.... with unpleasant results.
The extrovert, is the opposite, of course, and would be the ideal leader rushing up a hill.... if the hill should be rushed up. Hopefully, someone with a more normal disposition would make that decision.
Peace

Absolutely, most leaders are self absorbed(introvert) and they are so concerned with self image that they use their so-called subordinates as a tool to build themselves up.
