Try to find a dress at a consignment or re-sale shop or even try a bridal shop orstores like JC Penny, Sears, etc as they usually have a bridal shop where they have bridesmaids' dresses. See if you have www.craigslist.org in your area where people sell things cheap and sometimes trade or barter for items. If nothing else, ask family members or friends with daughters if they have old dresses in good shape. In high school I went to 3 proms and my mom was a single parent with 3 daughters and no child support, she bought my first dress and the next two years my sister and our friends all swapped dresses and used different accessories to make them "different". Explain the money situaiton and I am sure your daughter will be understanding and will be happy with any dress you are able to get her, as long as she gets to go and looks pretty.

My mom was having the same problem with my sister who is also 15 and wanting to go to homecoming. They went to the mall and went shopping. They checked out all the sales going on and my sister found an $80 dress on sale for $16! So just go check out sales or see if any of her friends have a dress she can borrow.

Try some consignment shops or look online if there is a "Dress Swap" anywhere in or near your community. Sometimes different schools will host them. If nothing else, post an ad wanting to borrow or buy a dress as inexpensive as possible.

i made two of my daughters dresses, one we found on the markdown rack at a wedding formal shop, the zipper needed to be replaced so it cost us $40. One I found at the Goodwill and the Salvation Army is a great place..any second hand store has inexpensive formals that will just need a little altering or repair..good hunting and have fun

Go to a consignment shop and see what they have available. Back in the day, I got my senior prom dress at one and it was about $50. It was in really good shape and the best part was that no one else had one like it. Consignment shops are much better than thrift stores.

I got a really nice dress at a garage sale for one of my dances in school or you could try a second hand store you would be surprized at what you can find there. Good luck

If you ask around, most schools have something called Becka's closet (the girl's name might be different). Anyway, they give out free homecoming dresses etc. look there
