I always do my oil change and after 10y with 5W30 regular oil decided to try the new synthetic one (about 3 times more expensive) for the first time. Do you think it is worth the switch?

Well, to tell you the truth, I already did the change and drove it a bit -- I felt the difference right away -- much more smooth change of gears and more power feels like (im driving standard) My engine burns NO oil althouth once I had added a bit more oil by mistake witch resulted in a small lick through the gasket but not any more. i do not think I have any oil lick now

After 10 years you said? I wouldn't. If you have even just a pin hole in any of your gaskets or O-rings, it will turn into a big mess. Full Syntheticis much more viscuous which does protect much better, but at this point I wouldn't try it. I have only used full synthetic in my Camaro, and my engine shows almost no wear after ten years.

So yes it is worth it, but BEWARE!

I run my car with synthetic only. Synthetic oil hold it thickness under hot condition(good) normal oil thin a little bit when it get hot(bad.) and some people siad that when you use synthetic you dont have to change your oil every 3000mile you can do it at 6000mile. Check out BMW their scheduel oil change is very high like 10000 mile but only if you use syn. oil.

Yes, its worth it (in a good running engine) one that doesn't already leak and burn oil......
Most manufacturers are recommending syn, not only for longer engine life, but longer oil change intervals.... and just cleaner engines (as some engines do have a sludging problem with conventional)

I use it as I drive 2500 miles a month. To save money changing oil every month I switched to sync.
I just change oil filter every 2500 miles and add a quart, then the last filter change your one qts regular oil, cause I change all oil at 15,000 miles. Sync was invented to extend oil changes and save land fill space, however I change my filters. In your automatic transmission it helps also from changing every 30,000 to 75,000.
Most people overlook their trannies. I use it for rear end lube and manual tranny fluid.
If your car or truck does not burn oil, it will save you money.

Just my opinion:

If used initialy, and used every time there after, probably a great idea to help prevent engine wear.

If used after the engine has already kind of worn out.....not very usefull.
