If you have a good work/non-work balance then every day should have its good points. If you are living for the weekend, then you've got problems. I was a Railwayman for thirty years, and had to work weekends, shifts etc, and had to fit my social life around a constantly changing work pattern, and sleep pattern.

I am now in semi-retirement, and work monday to friday, nine to five, at a job ten minutes walk from my home. Ok, the pay is lousy, but I have a pension to make up for the shortfall, and I do not run a car or indulge in all the useless flummeries of white goods and getting a perfectly respectable and functional kitchen replaced every five years. I keep myself and my wife in food for £30 per week (I'm a trained chef, I cook everything from fresh, I grow my own veg on an allotment and I buy no packeted food. We have steak, chicken breasts and fresh fish once per week).

This question should not have to be asked, but it is the fault of employers that working conditions militate upon the average worker finding so much solace in the weekend, and so little satisfaction within the workplace.

It all depends whether you like work and hate the weekend or vice versa.

What goes around comes around.
