It should last about 8 days in a refrigerator. Milk lasts about 4 hours in a warm room, and can last as long as to 6-12 months in a deep freezer. A good source for breast milk storage information can be found here: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkstorage.html

Don't freeze it unless it will be more than 7 days before you need it. Freezing and thawing can break down some of the good properties of the milk. Breastmilk can be stored in the fridge for about 7 days. Keep it towards the back so that the temperature will be more constant, away from the door. (Same goes with freezer storage.) The link below includes a helpful storage chart. Print it and put it on your fridge door.

For freshly expressed breastmilk @ room temperature: 4 hours at 66-72 degrees F.
In a cooler w/frozen ice packs, 24 hours @ 59 degrees F.
Refrigerator: 5-7 days @ 32-39 degrees F
In A Freezer (in fridge unit) 3-4 months
In a Deep Freeze: 6-12 months @ 0 degrees F

For Thawed Breastmilk (previously frozen):
do not store at room temperature
do not store in a cooler w/ice packs
24 hours in a refrigerator, and never, never refreeze thawed milk.

Hope it helps.

24 hours - you can buy special bags to freeze breast milk and these will remain good up to (I think) 6 months in the freezer. Fresh breast milk needs to be disposed of after 24 hours.

30 years on the kitchen table at room temp, 50 years in the fridge and 100 years in the freezer. It's due to the superior anti-spoilage molecules in breast milk.

Well a pediatrician told me it's a rule of 6. Six hours unrefrigerated, six days in the fridge, and six months in the freezer.

You can freeze it. Just be sure to use it within 24 hours of thawing it.
