I have an old sony Vaio that's been through a war. For a while now, the screen has had a tendency to flop around real easily, but now, I have to put it in just the right position or the image will go all wonky, with flickers and lines and it'll be split in half and such.

Is there anything I can do to fix it myself? if not, what's a pretty cheap way to get this thing working right again?

Borrow a friends monitor and hook it up to see if this is the problem. If their monitor works fine, this means your monitor is broken. If their monitor does the same thing, this means your video card is broken.

To fix the problem it will not be cheap either way.
