And when they do, is that a prelude to taking back the White House in 2008?

No, but I believe they will pick up seats in both. And yes, I feel there is a real possibility of winning the White House in 2008.

I certainly hope not on both counts. I feel as though Democrats have not been leaders, have cried "wolf" far too often, play the "race" card equally too often, and don't have a clue as to the true state of affairs (no pun at Clinton) of this country.

Serious times call for serious people, so until Democrats demonstrate they are serious about anything other than being anti-Bush, they wont get my vote.

Those of you thinking Republicans are for the rich and all that cliche stuff you hear should take a good look at both parties instead of the classic knee-jerk responses I typically hear from both sides.

I firmly believe there is more here at stake than whether you agree or oppose the war in Iraq.

If this country does not handle the situation in Iraq or address the other issues about our national security, there may not be a country left to defend. I simply don't hear Democrats addressing it in any capacity other than to nod their heads or cry out in false anguish.

Comparing the President to the devil or any other figure deemed evil is the most effective way of diminishing the stature and image of the United States of America to other countries, but thank God you have that right, because you wouldn't in another country without dire consequences...like in Venezuela.

This is a good question. I think it largely depends on voter turnout.

Will there be the same number of people who went to the polls in 2004 for the presidential election? In some parts of the country there was a 70% voter turnout.

It's hard to predict. At this point I think you have the same chances of predicting this outcome as you do flipping a coin: heads or tails?

no, not unless they start adopting a more moderate voice. Plus they need to start taking immigration seroius.

At this rate they are just driving people away.

Many may still not like Bush but they dislike the liberals even longer

Let's hope so. BUT they need to present a real strategy that INCLUDES fighting the war on terror and national security issues. Lately they seem to be trying to deal with economic issues, but the truth is, the majority of the US population is preoccupied with national security. Any party that doesn't put national security first will not win.

Republicans are very good at labeling Democrats as "soft on terrorism" and "weak on national security" - they need to prove them wrong. Let's hope they can.

not unless they get their s... together . They will lose a lot of votes , because of their stand on illegal immigration . Over 80% of Americans want it stopped and the borders closed and as long the Democrats are for amnesty I for one won't vote that way . Go with the American people and what they want , you'll get voted in , if you go against us , we'll vote you out !!!!!!

I sure hope not. I'm a republican. I would want the house to swing mostly to the right, but that's just me.
