It sounds like your little one is engaging his/her head. Also, because you have 2 already, the muscles aren't as strong as they were with your earlier babies. The back pain could be baby pressing on a nerve.
It all sounds like normal pregnancy pains and aches - not too long to go now though
Good Luck xx

I know tis can be very painful, and scary, but it's actually pretty normal considering you are 37 weeks with your 3rd child. This happened about the same time in my pregnancy with my second child. Of course, worried, i rushed to the hospital.

What you are experiencing is the pressure hte baby is putting on your cervix and ligaments that hold your uterus in place. You many feel sharp groin pain that gets worse as the day goes by, along with back pain that hurts when you move around. For me, it got so bad that i could barely walk by the end of the day.

To help with this, try taking a warm bath. Have someone help you get into the bath and out just to be safe. A heating pad is okay to use on the leg area, but done leave it directly on your belly.

The good news is that your pain is most likely a reflection of your baby 'dropping' or engaging in the pelvic area. In other words, it wont be long now! Since this is your 3rd child, its normal to go inot labor early, around 37-38 weeks. Keep and eye on if you are having contractions. (Since you have already had 2 babies, i wont explain what they feel like since you probably already know.)

Many others will tell you to walk to help speed up labor. But walking at this stage can be difficult and painful, especially with the groin pain. A good position to try is the squating position. Just squat down, and touch the floor with your fingers. This helps because gravity uses the baby to put pressure on your cervix, which will then help dilate and efface it.

Good luck!

It could be that you have a split pubic bone. I had similar symtoms with my third child. I could not even get into bed so I slept on a recliner for 6 weeks. Getting in and out of the bath was worse than labour pains. At 40 weeks I asked to be induced because I could barely walk then, but was told to give it another 10 days.

I finally went into labour at 41 weeks and had a 10lbs 1 oz baby girl. The pain does not go away there. I only found out about this condition after the birth and was given strong painkillers. If the pain continues, your GP will refer you to the physiotherapy department.

It took me 2 months after birth before the pain went away. Nothing in the books told me about this condition. You may ask for more information from your midwife and get her opinion.

Good luck.

Hi I've just had my third child!!- I thought I was going into labour many times- with my second child I could barely walk from 28 weeks the baby felt so low--I think the back pain is due to how the baby is lying! I had a lot of period type pains this last time from 35 weeks
you'll remember how it feels when you are in Labour!!!- don't leave it too long to go to the hospital when my waters went baby arrived in 12 minutes!!!!

good luck- just focus on the end product!!

More than likely its the baby dropping and putting pressure on the ligaments and cervex.Your almost there. As for people saying you should know because this is your 3rd pregnancy dont listen to them.Every pregnancy and labor is different.I'm a mother of 2 with my 3rd on the way.All my pregnancys were different and so was the labor.Good luck !

I have just had my 2nd and experienced the same symptoms. They were so painful that I thought something was happening. The midwife said it was the baby engaging and these were perfectly normal (albeit painful) symptoms.

If you are in any doubt, get yourself checked out. The hospital/on call midwife will not think you've wasted their time if it turns out to be normal, Trust your mother's intuition - it works well!

You could be suffering from spd (symphisis pubis dysfunction) this happens when the pregnancy hormone causes the joints in ur pelvis to soften, then they separate... this is extremely painful & if u speak to ur midwife she will give u some tips on how to manage it... try speak to her asap coz u may do some damage to ur pelvis durin delivery...

GET TO THE HOSPITAL and get yourself examined!!!
THere's a good chance you are in labour!

Everyone experiences labour differently -
Some babies break the water - then the contractions start.
Some contractions start - water breaks - then more painful contractions come.
Some HAVE TROUBLE breaking the water and this has to be done manually by a physician!

Labour comes in many ways -
Painful tummy contractions
Back pains
"period cramp" like pains
and on and on it goes.

Each person is different - Each pregnancy is different - Each pain is different!

Get checked out - it may be nothing AND it may be SOMETHING!

Good Luck to you and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

my friend had something like this in the last couple of months of her pregnancy. it was called spd. and she was in agony. she had to go for physio while she was pregnant so that her labour would be more comfortable for her and she had to wear this large belt. doctors find it hard to diagnose so ask about it. it is on some of the baby websites. good luck.
