Self-fulfilling prophecy is when a person thinks one thing is going to happen and as a result they "fulfill" that prophecy- meaning, what they expected occrus as a result of their expectations. In regards to research psychology, a self-fulfilling prophecy can refer to the researcher having certain expectations to coincide with his or her hypothesis, and so if they are only looking for what they think will happen in a study, they can overlook other findings to make their hypothesis correct.
