Additionally, though unrelated, when were Alexander the Great's conquests? And he was Greek right?

-_-;; To the first answerer. I don't use Yahoo answers unless I have to. I've been using wikipedia trying to get the information. Its worked, but I'd like a slightly more concise answer. I've been looking for a while and I'm kinda sick, so my eyes really hurt right now. Don't go judging me. And you're the one being lazy. Why spend the time telling me that? It's called Homework Help. What you've done isn't helping, mainly because you haven't even tried.

The Classical Age of ancient Greece (480-323 A.C.) was characterized by:
1. The birth of political thought. During classic years the constutution and democracy were born and consolidated. (See info on creation of "Polis"=city state.) For the first time every Greek citizen had the right (through the procedures of direct democracy) to elect and to be elected.
2. The development of the basic rules on aesthetics and the construction of monuments which have been characterized as monuments of international cultural heritage by Unesco.
3. The birth of scientific thought of human being. Sciences such as Philosophy, medicine, mathematics etc first were established in Classic years of ancient Greece.
4. People learned how to make a dialogue and how to convince other people on their opinions through rhetoric art.
For what concerns Alexander the Great he took over after his father's (Philippos) death and his conquests lasted a short period due to his death(336 - 331 A.C.)
On what concerns your question whether Alexander was a Greek citizen there is a large debate (to my opinion for political benefits )since his origin was Macedonian. However during this period the citizenship was defined in a different manner from the one we might do today. The meaning of the word "state"was different from what it is today. Each state was limited to the borders of "Polis" (=city-state). Athens was a different state from Sparti although the habitants of both cities were considered Greek citizens even if of different origin.
The question on whether one citizen was greek depended on several conditions, the most important of which was the condition of having received Greek education ("paideia"). And Alexander yes he had received Greek education. His teacher was Aristotle.
