I don't have any game platforms or DDR, and I might buy one to play DDR on for exercise. What should I get? What version of the game should I get?

The most popular platform I've seen for Dance Dance Revolution accessories (dance pads and such) is the PlayStation 2. That would give you the greatest choice of dance pads (quality can really vary from one pad manufacturer to another) and games.
Another plus is with the XBox 360 here, and the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii just around the corner, you'll be able to pick up a PS2 pretty cheap.
