I hate my job - well I dont hate the job,I hate this boss with a passion.I have been applying for jobs left right and centre but as I have no degree am finding it hard even to get to interview stage. I have had 2 interviews but didnt get the jobs and am starting to feel like the biggest failure ever. I check job website and the paper ever day and apply for everything even slightly relevent to my skills. I am reallly down about all this - should i quit my current job and temp or waitress until i find something permanent?

Do you hate your boss due to personality conflicts or because he or she is making it hard to do your job? If it's the latter, then go to human resources, and keep looking. Buy yourself some time by making your complaint known, in case something adverse should happen in the future. Also, take advantage of any education financial aid your job/company offers in the meantime to get more skills/education. If the former is the problem, then adjust your attitude so that nothing he/she does is going to upset you. You're just letting someone affect your life too much at that point, and it's not worth it. Don't give him/her that kind of power. Good luck.

If you are that miserable at your job then it probably wouldn't hurt to take some temp positions until you find a more permanent position. Maybe the temp position will turn into a permanent one. Interviewers, at least good ones, can usually sense an unhappy person no matter how much they try to cover it up. My suggestion is to get the heck away from your boss, s/he is bringing you down and you don't need it.

Also take a step back and decide what you really want to do. Maybe you are in the wrong position/industry. Just a thought.

Plus never say anything bad about a former boss. That's asking for rejection for several reason I hope I don't have to explain.

Good luck!

You could always go to college or university to specialise in something as this may increase your chance of getting a job. You could also do a job which gives you on the job training so you dont need experience when you apply. Its up to you if you quit your job at the moment but think about how it leaves you regarding money. Also put your CV on www.monster.co.uk as this helps you find jobs

since you are not getting many interviews, i would venture to say that your resume is really bad. you might think it is ok but it needs an overhaul, get it professionally done or buy the book by barry cohen "Power Interviewing: Killer Cover Letters : How to get the job you really want! "(available on amazon etc.), it covers interviews, cover letters and resumes. You will figure out what you are doing wrong, correct it and live happily ever after.

ask friends if they know of anything.

also --around town are there any places you enjoy just being? where the people you like and the feel of the place is nice? apply there.

best of luck to you.

p.s. do something nice for your boss every day. or at least ask if there's anything you could do and then do whatever is said with love and a smile. it will help with the poison you are carrying.
