I don't really understand your question, but 8 as a power of 2 is 2^8.
2^8 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 256.
(If you are asking something else, i.e. to what power of 2 is 8, then the answer is 2^3 = 8, so the power is 3.)

God knows. I failed math GCSE - but I found this -
Consider log2 8. We are asking ‘what is 8 expressed as a power of 2 ?’ We know that 8 = 23
and so log2 8 = 3.
What about log8 2 ? Now we are asking ‘what is 2 expressed as a power of 8 ?’ Now 23 = 8
and so 2 = 3 â8 or 81/3. So log8 2 =
1
3
.
We see again
log8 2 =
1
log2 8

Break it down by division. 8 divided by 2 equals 4. 4 divided by 2 equals 2; therefore 8 as a power of 2 is: (how many 2's were derived by the above method?)

think of a cube with width length and breadth of 2 units
the volume of the cube = width x length x breadth
= 2 x 2 x 2 cubic units
= 8 cubic units
hence, (2 units)^3 = 8 cubic units
therefore, 8 = 2 cubed(2^3)

To solve we have the equation:
8 = 2^x
take logarithms
log 8 = log(2^x)
hence log 8 = x*log2
so x = (log8)/(log2) = 3
