Nooooooo!
My favourite book of all, all time.
Reader, I married him. Perfect line, still makes me swoon.
Not watching this new series, though because that man, whoever he is, is NOT Mr Rochester. Almost as bad as George C Scott. Only Timothy Dalton will do.

Well I think the fact that she insisted on paying for her own wedding attire and then ran out on him before the wedding was meant to show that she wasn't. Then the when he lost everything in the fire she can back to him and supported her new mutilated husband out of her inheritance. So no. Please she wasn't real so I would call her the biggest anything in history. Try Lady Charlemaine. She was a gold digger and actually existed.

Add to that, Cathy from Wuthering Heights, All the Bennet sisters in Pride and Predjudice, that girl in Barchester Towers and erm, Catherine Zeta Jones.

Nobody's mentioned Heather Mills.
Cue the "one legged gold digger" joke.
I'll get my coat.

No - she had a cruel aunt and a strict and horrible school - so she deserves happiness with Mr Rochester - how rich is he anyway - once his property has been gutted by fire? (no insurance in those days!)
